OVERVIEW
Permit Pro offers a seamless and user-friendly platform for contractors to request permits for tasks such as installing AC units, electrical equipment, plumbing e.t.c. The platform is designed to simplify the entire permit application process by guiding users through a step-by-step wizard flow. Key features include permit type selection, scope of work definition, equipment details, attachment uploads, real-time application review, and confirmation. With Permit Pro, contractors save time, improve efficiency, and minimize errors in permit submissions.
MY ROLE
As the lead designer for Permit Pro, I was responsible for reimagining the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of the contractor portal. This involved not only creating a visually appealing design but also optimizing the workflow to make the process faster, easier, and more intuitive for contractors. The project included both research and execution phases.
THE APPROACH
Focusing on goals
The core objective was to build a platform that could guide contractors through the permit request process in a logical and user-friendly manner. To achieve this, I began by documenting user pain points and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce errors in the workflow.
Following discussions with stakeholders and alignment with the project vision, I proceeded to design high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes. The final product incorporated features that ensured clarity, ease of use, and compliance with local regulations.
BACKGROUND
Permit applications often involve cumbersome paperwork and confusing workflows, which can lead to frustration and delays. Contractors and businesses face challenges in managing multiple permit types and complying with local regulations. Permit Pro addresses these pain points by introducing a centralized platform that transforms the permit application process into a streamlined digital experience.
The foundation of Permit Pro lies in the belief that contractors deserve tools that empower them to focus on their craft rather than administrative hassles. By automating and simplifying the permit process, Permit Pro eliminates inefficiencies and ensures that contractors can achieve their goals with minimal friction.
ONBOARDING
The onboarding process was designed to help contractors get started quickly. A straightforward, step-by-step guide ensures that users can create an account and begin submitting permits within minutes.
DASHBOARD
The Permit Pro dashboard provides a way for contactors to request a new permit and also view permit and status of all permit requests.
OVERVIEW
The Permit Pro overview page provides a centralized view of all permit requests, enabling contractors to track the status of their applications in real-time. It shows the total requested permits, total approved & rejected permits, total pending permits, and recent permit activities & status updates.
MY PERMITS
The Permit Pro permit page enables the contractors to search for all types of recent and old permits based on project name and project id and also allows contractors filter permits by permit type, status and submission date
PERMIT REQUEST WIZARD
The heart of Permit Pro lies in its step-by-step wizard, which guides contractors through each stage of the permit application process. Key steps include:
Project Details: Contractors specify the details of their project, ensuring clarity for regulatory approval.
Permit Type: Contactors select the type of permit you need to apply for.
Permit Details: Contactors provide detailed information about the selected permit type and the specifications for the equipment involved in the project.
Attach & Upload Documents: Supporting documents, such as blueprints or compliance certifications, can be uploaded directly through the platform. Emphasis was placed on creating a secure environment for uploading sensitive documents.
Review & Submit: Contractors review their application for accuracy before submitting it.
Confirmation & Notification: A confirmation page notifies the contractor that request has successfully been submitted. This provides contractors with a summary of their submission and outlines the next steps. Automated notifications keep contractors informed about the status of their applications, reducing the need for manual follow-ups.
RESULTS
Permit Pro has revolutionized the permit application process for contractors. By introducing a step-by-step wizard, a clear dashboard, a customized overview, and a user-friendly design, the platform has significantly reduced the time and effort required to submit permits. Contractors now have a reliable tool to manage their workflows and ensure compliance with ease.
